Pure Imagination

Watching my son play is one of the most amazing things. I catch myself staring wondering where did he get that idea from.

Every mum learns quickly that the best toys end up being the least expensive things like cardboard boxes. This particular box that he was given entertained him for ages.

My son's imagination is obviously starting to grow as he looks at different ways to play with things, imitating  the things that he sees around him. He gets deep into concentration sometimes and has the funniest expressions. He chats away to himself sometimes and I wish I knew what he was saying. Imaginative play is probably one of the best things to watch.

One toddler and Kew

This weekend we had a surprising break from home which ended up feeling like a holiday. There was no long planning. Hubby had a meeting in London and suggested I come along so we could make a weekend of it and meet with family and friends. It was an ace idea. We stayed in Richmond so close to Kew Gardens that I decided to make a day of it there! After examining it's on line website I actually got rather excited about it all...there seemed like so much to do that it could not fail to entertain the wee man!

The great thing is that rain or shine it really is a great place to visit. It's also the best season to enjoy some amazing colours! There are so many inside spaces but of course being a botanical garden you are still within nature. We may have actually bonded a bit too much with the nature than we should have. The glass houses are big and fun to explore as well and very pushchair friendly. Never mind that there was lots of water features and fishes to discover!

They also have the walkways where you can even get a more interesting view of all the plants.

and we also had the joy of a little extra surprise!

Kew is big and with a toddler it felt huge! You probably need a couple of days to explore all its nook and crannies. There is so much green space I don't think we were sure what to do with it all, we kept getting distracted with the birds and sticks and leaves and he spent forever having a long conversation with the ducks and swans.

I even sat and posed for a picture for mummy!

Don't forget even big cities have amazing outdoor spaces!

A mum who is too proud

Everything my wee man does these days is amazing. To me he is like the only child in this world who is learning and growing. No other child surely does it as well as him! When he says a new word I try every way possible to get him to repeat it. "Did you hear that? Quick lets call the grandparents and tell them!"

I try not to do it in front of other mums obviously otherwise I would give myself some sort of label and would probably be avoided BUT in my head "Ha! Bet your child can't do that?"

Every time he does something new, we go to some new activity, he is just amazing at it. You have to trust me on this one. He kicks the ball so well that he is definitely going to be a footballer when he grows up! He also aced preschool gymnastics class so you might just be seeing him at Olympics 2028! He can also throw a ball rather well....I kid you not.

Honestly he has a go at most things. Okay so a few things frighten him and some things are a definite no but he knows that his mummy and daddy are there. I think I am just a mum who is too proud. I do love him so.

Probably one of the best joys of reading books is being able to do it together!

Fun at the Museum

I never thought I would be singing Glasgow's praises but it really is a great place to live with kids. There is so much that caters towards them that it tends to be quite easy to get out and about and have fun with the wee man. Rainy days or sunny days there are options for both. I am actually a bit scared though that as the wee man gets older he may get a bit bored with it all but right now it's all good. This Friday was a rainy day so we decided to check out the Kelvingrove Art Galleries and Museums as it's been ages since we have been. Thankfully for the wee man it was like the first time we had ever been.

There is lots of space where you feel the freedom to run about and the wee man was ready. In the Centre Hall there are large animals  on display and a big aeroplane all of which you can go ohh and ahh at. The display Creatures of the Past was another clear favourite. I was surprised at how the wee man looked really interested and wanted to point at everything. Did I mention there are bees?

There is plenty of interactive bits to keep you busy as well and our favourite bit was getting to play dress up! So the wee man has a fascination with trying on shoes...he is always walking around the house in mine.

I could not believe how quickly the time passed but was not surprised at the fight I had in the end to convince the wee man that no he could not wear the shoes home!
