Stories around the table

Being part of an Italian family means learning very quickly that the kitchen is the heart of the home. This is where the stories are told. If you record it you would probably get a pretty good oral history of family life. I have had to learn to navigate when it's okay to excuse myself as you could really sit around the table all night.

Hubby and I will set the table most nights for tea and often one story will be told of the wee man. With the Nonni here they revel in stories of the wee man. Before we drink we always say "Cin, Cin" like the little one says. Often I find that we are repeating ourselves but it is still just as funny, just as special. In a recent story we revelled in how set the wee man is in his ways. When he does not want something he is quite clear "No, no, no, no, no". If he has finished what he is eating he says this while handing over his plate to me. Then he takes off his bib and says "Up." Of course his language is coming on leaps and bounds so we find it very funny to repeat all the new words he is saying.

I cannot help but wonder now what the story will be tomorrow, how they will change as he grows. This blog is a part of my record of our family history. The little things that I hope not to forget. The pictures that make me smile. So I hope you don't mind if I make the "Stories around the table" a new standard feature now.
