We went on a play date to our new fave spot Queens Park. We played at the play park, visited the animals, had some lunch and ventured into the soft play. We went out for more fresh air and got stuck. The boys found lots of sticks which had fallen from the trees to keep them busy. Give a child a stick and stand back and watch the fun. Admittedly there were times we had to watch our heads! Thank goodness it was quiet and that was a fight we could avoid for another day.

My boys are a bit older than yours and STILL play with sticks - I wonder when they will grow out of them!
ReplyDeleteWe certainly don't seem in any rush to!
DeleteIt's really difficult to beat sticks isn't it? Even the 7yo will find good ones if we go on a walk :) And the 4yo is completely obsessed!
ReplyDeleteThey hold so many possibilities!
DeleteOh you're right, a good stick us hard to beat!
ReplyDeleteThey are like magnets!
DeleteThere is nothing my 7-year-old likes better than a good stick. There are just so many possibilities - but he usually decides to be Luke Skywalker with it and fight off Darth Vader's henchmen.
ReplyDeleteI like his thinking!
DeleteThere's just something about a stick....that a child can't resist. You're so right! We even have piles of enormous sticks near our front door which my kids have brought back from walks. #countrykids
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately ours actually make it inside!
DeleteMy brother is 25 and still plays with sticks, always entertaining and great for keeping your little one quiet!

ReplyDeleteSticks are wonderful play toys aren't they? The Boy likes to pick them up and use them as walking sticks, which is very comical when they're only six inches long! Wonderful photos showing the fun and games you got up to.
ReplyDeleteNipping over from Country Kids.
My daughter also really loves sticks, makes me laugh we buy our kids expensive gifts snd all they really need and want are the boxes, sticks and stones lol
ReplyDeleteI love these pictures. Sticks are great, they can be so many things to children. Often just having a stick to play with means my boys cope with the walk back from the park better! Corinne (motherhoodjourneys)
