A morning at the Local

I love those days at the park when we drift away from the play area to explore. I must admit that Endcliffe Park, our local, here in Sheffield is great to do just that and is probably my favourite. After recent rains there was plenty of mud which I guess got the wee man started with doing some exploring. The Porter Brook was high and running fast and offered the perfect opportunity for leaf racing. There is a pond to see the ducks and thankfully a kind mummy offered us some of their bread so we fed them too. You can walk through a forest and climb trees, jump across stepping stones find berries on the ground. Then finally making your way to the play park to do some climbing and swinging and shooting down the slides.

As the wee man's imagination grows so does his approach to play. He is a bag of curiosity and all his senses are alight. Every trip outside is a new journey of discovery and exploration. It's so easy to turn a walk into a real adventure. Flowers to be picked (ahem and some not meant to be picked), stones to be upturned, sticks used to poke and prod, catching leaves in the wind, boulders to climb and jump. You never know there might be a bear just around the corner!

Puddles, Stones, Leaves and Ice but no Bears!

We took the Nonni along one of our favourite walks by Loch Venachar near Callander. Every time we go the wee man experiences it a little differently. A sign of how he is growing. We started with muddy puddles. We found different stones along the way and one thing we enjoy doing is throwing them in the water. It seems the bigger the stone the greater is the wee man's joy. There was remnants of snow and ice and the wee man enjoyed having a closer look, brrr. Next best thing to stones and sticks seems to be leaves and he enjoyed collecting as many as he could before throwing them in the Loch. As hard as we tried though we could not find any bears in the woods! 

Fun at the Museum

I never thought I would be singing Glasgow's praises but it really is a great place to live with kids. There is so much that caters towards them that it tends to be quite easy to get out and about and have fun with the wee man. Rainy days or sunny days there are options for both. I am actually a bit scared though that as the wee man gets older he may get a bit bored with it all but right now it's all good. This Friday was a rainy day so we decided to check out the Kelvingrove Art Galleries and Museums as it's been ages since we have been. Thankfully for the wee man it was like the first time we had ever been. 

There is lots of space where you feel the freedom to run about and the wee man was ready. In the Centre Hall there are large animals  on display and a big aeroplane all of which you can go ohh and ahh at. The display Creatures of the Past was another clear favourite. I was surprised at how the wee man looked really interested and wanted to point at everything. Did I mention there are bees?

There is plenty of interactive bits to keep you busy as well and our favourite bit was getting to play dress up! So the wee man has a fascination with trying on shoes...he is always walking around the house in mine. 

I could not believe how quickly the time passed but was not surprised at the fight I had in the end to convince the wee man that no he could not wear the shoes home!
