A morning at the Local

I love those days at the park when we drift away from the play area to explore. I must admit that Endcliffe Park, our local, here in Sheffield is great to do just that and is probably my favourite. After recent rains there was plenty of mud which I guess got the wee man started with doing some exploring. The Porter Brook was high and running fast and offered the perfect opportunity for leaf racing. There is a pond to see the ducks and thankfully a kind mummy offered us some of their bread so we fed them too. You can walk through a forest and climb trees, jump across stepping stones find berries on the ground. Then finally making your way to the play park to do some climbing and swinging and shooting down the slides.

Clifton Park, Rotherham

We are moving down South, though we will still be North, Sheffield to be exact. We were there for a few days last week and it gave me and the wee man a chance to explore surrounding parks. We went for the day to Clifton Park in Rotherham. It was only a short train ride away which gave us plenty of time to explore, for the wee man to get proper mucky and for mummy to get burnt shoulders....ouch. It really had a bit of everything for us there and with it being a beautiful sunny day it was pretty busy for a weekday. It has two great playgrounds for climbing, sliding, swinging and exploring. Oh and there are wooden sheep or maybe they were horses. There is a great big sand pit with all the necessary bits to keep them busy digging and pouring. We brought our bucket and spades too which added to the fun. There is a big water play area too but unfortunately it was not open yet and looks under repair for it's summer premier. The wee man eventually spotted the train in the fun park and that was it he was off. I gave in and got us some tokens to go on a selection of rides. He used to be pretty scared of these types of rides but he has apparently lost his fear and happily went on everything all on his own. I was even impressed when he went on the mini roller coaster and had to laugh when he screamed like the other young children as obviously he felt it was part of the experience! I only managed to convince him to go home with the bribe of an ice cream we could eat on the way back to the train.
