For the love of mud and swings

Well the Diva has definately reached that stage where she can't pass a muddy puddle without jumping in. The muddier the better. We literally live in our wellies now just in case! She has also discovered the joys of sticks and stones and playing with water. It's great that our local parks have rivers running through them so we can go for walks getting closer and down right dirty with nature! I love how she doesn't mind getting her hands dirty. Even I tend to come home after one of our outings covered in mud. It's also a good distraction from our other passion 'the swings'.

She has an interesting obsession in trying every swing and then turning to face different ways, there is obviously a subtle difference in each swing that I just don't get. The higher she gets to go the better. I'm afraid she is the child that hogs the swings and refuses to give anyone a turn. I just manage to convince her that the slide is just as good but after one shot she is racing over again!

Snow Days

Snow falling is not conducive to a smooth running of bath and bed time. I quickly gave in and put hat, scarf, jacket and gloves over pyjamas and we were out of the house. The wee man just loves the stuff and his laughter and excitement is crazy. Thankfully we convinced him he had to go back inside for bed.

Thankfully the snow has hung around and for the past two days we have been enjoying it. The wee man does not tire of rolling around in it, throwing snowballs, building with it and well yeah even eating it. He can't seem to stop himself from laughing. I don't think we have ever seen him this happy about something! I'm not quite sure what he will say when it eventually melts.

A morning at the Local

I love those days at the park when we drift away from the play area to explore. I must admit that Endcliffe Park, our local, here in Sheffield is great to do just that and is probably my favourite. After recent rains there was plenty of mud which I guess got the wee man started with doing some exploring. The Porter Brook was high and running fast and offered the perfect opportunity for leaf racing. There is a pond to see the ducks and thankfully a kind mummy offered us some of their bread so we fed them too. You can walk through a forest and climb trees, jump across stepping stones find berries on the ground. Then finally making your way to the play park to do some climbing and swinging and shooting down the slides.
