We bought a bucket for a pound at our local supermarket and took it for a test run. We went to Balloch Country Park where I knew there would be stones and water and I figured he could use his bucket to collect his sticks and stones as we walked along and I knew there was sand at the play park area. Walking along we were happy as we found stones to pop into our bucket. Then we came upon the perfect spot to throw them in the water and there was also sand which we could dig and build castles with. We found that we had to take our shoes and socks off as we toddled quite close to the water. We slowly tried to make it to the play park but we never made it as wee man was too distracted by the small "beaches" close to the water. After all are hard work building and smashing castles we treated ourselves to fish and chips at a local pub with ice cream for dessert. A bucket is a worthy investment!

ReplyDeletegive a boy a bucket and you give him the world :) collecting muddy sand , stones and sticks with his bucket and spade must have been great fun for him. he would get on with my two very well. i love the shot of his toes in the squelchy sand x
ReplyDeleteI love this, as Jenny says, such a simple thing but opens up so many possibilities for a wee man. I love your little piece of beach there, I have discovered a little area just like this along our river bank which I was previously unaware of. Now going to take my children down there, though I dare say they will already of discovered it. Thanks for linking up and I love your Country Park.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Shows you don't need to spend a lot for them to have fun x

ReplyDeleteWhat a well spent pound that was! He's clearly very attached to his bucket and sounds like it kept him busy! Gorgeous pictures :)
ReplyDeleteJust look at the concentration and delight on his wee face. Isn't it lovely how children can really appreciate the simple pleasures in life x
ReplyDeleteEvery one of these photos would look really lovely displayed on your wall. I love how little ones enjoy the simple things in life and it's nice to let them dictate what we do instead of us getting caught up what we think they would like to do :)
