Drawing and jumping

It was by no means planned but Thursday turned into a themed day about drawing and jumping. Drawing shapes and jumping from one to the other. A football pitch suddenly has many uses as it provides the perfect background for pictures. After drawing circles around ourselves what else could be we do but jump from one to the other.

After our afternoon nap my plan was just some baking and then we got some paper and the pencils out until he spotted the chalk. He decided it was time to go downstairs in the "garden". Never mind we don't have a garden. The walkway around our car park thankfully works okay for chalk. He obviously had fun in the morning as we were jumping into shapes again. I guess it's a substitute for hopscotch. Trust me this jumping stuff is hard work and good exercise!

  4. I agree jumping is hard work, well for adults anyway. They seem to be able to do it continuously without getting remotely hot and sweaty. It looks like your wee man had loads of fun, the look of concentration on his face drawing with chalk is brilliant.

  8. Oh wow your little man is starting to look so grown up. I love the idea of drawing, especially the floor chalks - we need to get some for this summer! Thanks so much for your comment on my blog - there are some amazing parts of Glasgow - I lived in Edinburgh for two years and had a lot of friends who lived in Glasgow and it's another city that gets too much negative press instead of positive, as it's such a creative place.

    Thanks again

  9. great photos, we love doing this on the beach and I get the kids to jump from shape to shape, they don't realise they're learning about shapes all they're doing is jumping!! Also great for letters and numbers you can draw in the dirt or the sand...

  13. Brilliant idea for pre-writing practise! In fact, The Boy was looking a little board in the garden so I've just gone and got the chalks for him to play with. Thanks for the prompt!
