Only 20 minutes

I'll be an honest, if there is one linky I enjoy being a part of it's "Country Kids". It gives me that little extra push to get my wee man out of the house every week. Recently I have not been blogging as much but surprise myself in the fact that there it is in the back of my mind...what could be my "Country Kids" post this week. It gets harder as the weather changes and we find ourselves time and time again back at our local park. The wee man has not been well, we have family visiting, the rain has been rather torrential all culminating in a "Country Kids" post feeling kind of well bland. Glasgow is thankfully good for museums so at least we are getting out of the house and away from the wee man's beloved favourites of "Tree fu tom" and "Peter Rabbit". We visited the Riverside Museum and the Tall Ship this week and I thought this is going to be it...a couple minutes of fresh air as the wee man "sweeps the deck". We had a play date that afternoon with friends in Stirling and I figured that pretty much meant them romping together around the house. So I smiled when I received a text to bring the wee man's bike as his friend just got a scooter for her birthday. Hoozah! Honestly as soon as we were kitted out and ready to go the rain drops came and it was torrential by the time we made it around the block. I hope though that those 20 minutes of fresh air got some of the cobwebs away.

Out the house

It's been one of those weeks. I'm back at work part time so early afternoons at the beginning of the week are now rare with the wee man. I also left hubby in Italy for the week which means I am on my own which is not so much scary as non surprisingly quite tiring. The weather has been against us too so my days off this week meant taking the wee man to bookbug, the local library and swimming. All great stimulating activities which gets my wee man out of the house. We were missing something though, fresh air. It's Friday, the rain is unrelenting but as I seem to do these days I forge on and eventually it gives us a break and only meant we were maybe a little late for dinner. So it was the usual park, the usual activities but it works for our inner "country kid".

  

Walking in the rain

It was an impromptu trip to Stirling for a play date with friends in the afternoon. That meant I had a whole morning where the wee man needed to be occupied. I'm not quite sure what to do in Stirling when  it rains and I'll admit on the drive from Glasgow, as it was bucketing it down, I was looking to see what we could do indoors. Thankfully on arrival at Stirling University the weather relented a bit. So with a slight drizzle we ventured forward as the Loch was certainly more appealing than soft play.

The wee man discovered his bag of toys for later so we also took Upsy Daisy, Igglepiggle, a tombliboo, some haahoos, 2 cars, a helicopter, a fire engine and an ambulance as well. We all chatted with the ducks and swans. We found smalls sticks and a very big one too. We found as many stones as we could to throw into the Loch. 

Then we were ready for some lunch as long as it was chips with ketchup or should that be ketchup with chips?

  

Facing the elements

So the weather has made a lovely u-turn to wintery times. Rain, sleet and snow. My being excited for an afternoon of sunshine was dashed quickly to the curb when the wee man came home early from nursery with a high temperature. Thankfully whatever it was quickly faded and we were able to make our Stirling play date on Friday but that afternoon sunshine had other ideas and never showed it's face again. With two over excited children who both had refused to have afternoon naps were two mummies who would do anything to wear them out a little bit. The usual crowded Kings's Park in Stirling was empty. Nothing better than having so much space to yourself.

They did not have to fight with anyone to use the equipment except maybe each other. 

The bad weather does not stop them from having fun. Wrap up warm and face the elements.
