Free Wheel North, Glasgow Green Centre

We woke up to a beautiful crazy sunny Friday. We headed to what is possibly a high ranker now in the wee man's favourite parks, Glasgow Green. It's got a lot of options to amuse my wee man from sandy play to climbing. On Friday we decided to explore a new option for us "Free Wheel North". I had glimpsed it from a distance and then checked it online to see that it was something available to members of the public. The wee man had a blast cycling around the track and getting used to pedals and steering. He caught onto it all pretty quick thankfully as it could have turned into a somewhat back breaking exercise for Daddy. It's got a great range of cycles with tandems, ride alongs and rickshaws and of course we had to have a go on one as a whole family! It's therefore also great for people with disabilities and it's greatly focused towards that. I recently found out it's got a great philosophy to encourage a healthy and active Glasgow so we felt good to support that. The staff were really helpful and friendly which adds to an overall fantastic experience so we will be back!

Our no snow day!

So with everyone twittering and blogging about snow, we kind of feel left out. We have had bright sunshine! It's still been freezing though and my fingers and toes don't do too well in this kind of cold. So with two pairs of socks on, one being Hubby's walking socks and some gloves I bravely took the wee man out, Glasgow Green being our destination.

We went for a brisk walk along the River Clyde. No photos were taken during this exercise for health and safety reasons. Wind gusts attempted to blow us away and we only just made it to the park. Actually I apologise for some of the quality of the photos as I was forced to keep my gloves on. Taking photos with gloves is not an easy task...honest!

Glasgow Green has a lot to offer to those who don't know and we did our best to sample a few of them. 

So on our no snow day we managed to play in the play park.

On our no snow day we saw the assorted wild life and chased leaves to throw into the River Clyde.

On our no snow day Mummy was getting rather cold with the blistering wind, and the tears in wee man's eyes was giving away that maybe he was feeling cold too. The best thing of Glasgow Green is that you can enjoy the outdoors in. We went to the Winter Gardens, the lovely glasshouse which is part of the People's Palace. A great place for tea and cake or lunch or to entertain a toddler when it's freezing cold outside. We took advantage of it's entertainment and lunch value. Here is where I also cheekily admit that we might have touched the plants.

So we had a no snow day! We still had to wrap up warm and we still had a lot of fun!

  

Friday gone

Last Friday, Friday gone I officially became a stay at home mum. Well the end of my sick line from work is over anyway and having handed in my resignation that is the end of that part of the journey that I have been on. It was by simple coincidence that I chose to go that afternoon with the wee man to Glasgow Green. You see when he was first born we used to live next to this park and go walking there all the time. Then it was all about looking toward the future. When would I feel like I had the energy to go back to work much less start looking for a job? I would see children playing in the little play park and think that soon that would be me and the wee man. Often the children would run around chasing the pigeons that always gathered by the river fighting the geese over pieces of bread and I would wonder if my wee man would do the same. Well here we are in that future. I did eventually get that job that did not work out. My wee man though now excels at playing in the park and no surprises that he tried his best to catch a pigeon.

When it snows in Scotland everything kind of stops. So I stopped as well and took some pictures.
